The Challenge

Babcock International Group plc wished to achieve enhanced commercial terms across their operational print and corporate merchandise requirements. In addition, they wanted to find a supply partner who could deliver this whilst enhancing service and streamlining the pre-existing supply chain processes. In particular, large stock holdings of products had been accumulated within the supply chain resulting in a significant stock obsolescence risk as well as poor version control of existing artwork.

The Solution

Following several meetings to gain a precise understanding of the requirements, it became clear that a far more streamlined solution could be achieved delivering substantial product cost savings, faster deliveries,  improved processes and a virtual elimination of stock obsolescence risk. 

We realised the most efficient way to deliver a solution which would encompass all of the requirements would be to bespoke and deploy an online ordering portal giving secure access to users across all of the divisions. The portal would be configured to display the relevant products to each user with the benefit of built in cost centre entry linked to specific users as well as bespoke online reporting. 

With over 750 regularly ordered printed products of training, marketing and quality materials, we streamlined processes to allow for the rapid updating of versions, version management, brand control, management controls, and regular quality reviews. On all but the fastest moving business critical lines, stock has been eliminated with the introduction of a ‘Print on Demand’ service eliminating future stock obsolescence whilst still delivering a turnaround within the required timescales. 

A dedicated customer service contact is in place for all end users to act as a knowledgeable point of contact, to ensure brand guidelines are adhered to, and to provide proactive support on the varying non-standard requirements that form part of the Babcock Group’s requirements. Deliveries of all printed products and corporate merchandise are made direct to the required destination across mainland UK, Ireland and Europe.

IF SOMETHING ISN’T QUITE RIGHT WITH OUR ARTWORK THEY WILL HELP TO MAKE THE AMENDS IF WE CAN’T GET IT SORTED AT OUR END IN TIME. THEY QUALITY CHECK EVERY BIT OF ARTWORK WE SEND THROUGH TO ENSURE WE WILL GET THE BEST END RESULT POSSIBLE. THE QUALITY AND FINISH OF ALL THE PRODUCTS IS SECOND TO NONE.
THEY ALWAYS HAVE OUR BEST INTEREST AT HEART. EVERY TIME WE DO A LARGE PRINT RUN (OR OFTEN EVEN SMALL ONES) THEY FOCUS ON DELIVERING THE BEST VALUE POSSIBLE.
AN ABSOLUTE BLESSING TO ME IS THAT THEY DO THE PRINT MANAGEMENT TOO. WE HAVE NEVER HAD THAT BEFORE, THIS MAKES LIFE MUCH EASIER AS THERE IS NO NEED TO ALWAYS HAVE A CONSTANT EYE ON THE STOCK LEVELS.
